Since its inception, one of Campus Crest Communities main focuses has been on giving back to the local communities where the Company owns and operates properties. In 2006, as part of its community outreach program in Milledgeville, GA and Carrollton, GA Campus Crest established its annual "Bicycle Giveaway." Each year the Company's co-founders Ted Rollins, chief executive officer, and Mike Hartnett, chief investment officer, partner with Flagg Chapel Baptist Church in Milledgeville and Westside Full Gospel Baptist Church in Carrollton to present children in need of a gift during the holiday season with a new bicycle. As part of its effort to grow the program and touch more lives in the surrounding communities each year Campus Crest gives away more bicycles than the previous year.
"Integrating ourselves into the local communities where we operate properties is at the heart of our operating platform. As a group, we strongly feel that it is our responsibility to give back and improve the communities where we live and work. We're not just in the business of owning and operating student-housing communities, we're in the process of improving the human condition. With each class that graduates from college and leaves our communities we want those students to walk away with an understanding of what it is to make a difference in the world," commented Rollins and Harnett.
At this year's event Rollins and Hartnett were made honorary Deacons of the Westside Full Gospel Baptist Church. Pictured below both men can be seen standing next to the church's pastor Walter Kight.
