Horatio Alger

At Campus Crest, we believe in more than business. We believe that we can use our success to improve the human condition. One way we aim to do this is by providing housing to Horatio Alger scholarship recipients.

Inspired by Ted Rollins' late father, John W. Rollins, Sr., Ted and business partner Mike Hartnett decided to use their success in the student housing industry to improve lives. (Rollins, Sr. was a longtime supporter of the Horatio Alger Foundation prior to his passing.)

At each of its The Grove locations, Campus Crest dedicates three four-year housing scholarships to Horatio Alger scholarship winners. The average value of each housing scholarship totals more than $5,400 per year.

To the extent it's possible, Campus Crest will work with Horatio Alger association to locate housing in markets and schools where there is a trend of more scholarship attendance.

Additionally, Campus Crest and Horatio Alger will work together in structuring this gift to maximize proceeds from matching scholarships or grants available through participating schools or government agencies.
